Hon. Imran Khan addresses forum on Pakistan-China Trade
and Investment Opportunities in Beijing
In Beijing today, Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed a
large gathering of leading Chinese enterprises at a
forum on Pakistan-China Trade and Investment
Opportunities, co-organized by the China Council for
Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the the
Embassy of Pakistan Beijing.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister extended warm
felicitations on the 70th
anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of
China and dilated upon the special nature of the
Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative
Partnership. The Prime Minister highlighted the
Government's key policy measures for revitalizing the
economy and providing favourable business environment
for foreign investors. He also reaffirmed Pakistan's
commitment to expeditious completion of CPEC projects so
as to realize the initiative's potential to act as a
game-changer.
The Prime Minister added that entering a phase of
higher-quality growth, CPEC would multiply trade and
investment opportunities between Pakistan and China. The
launch of SEZs, introduction of incentive policies for
investors, and the implementation of the upgraded
Pakistan-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) would
accelerate economic growth and business activity. The
Prime Minister also underscored the factors favourable
for foreign investment in Pakistan and outlined the
sectors in which investments by Chinese investors would
yield high dividends. The Prime Minister urged them to
take full advantage of the exciting opportunities in
Pakistan.
The Forum was also addressed by Foreign Minister
Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Adviser to the Prime
Minister on Commerce, Mr. Abdul Razzak Dawood, and
Chairperson CCPIT, Ms. Gao.Senior executives from China Metallurgical Group Corp.
(MCC) and China Machinery Engineering Corp. shared their
enterprises' experience of investing and doing business
in Pakistan. They encouraged Chinese businesses and
enterprises to benefit from the favourable opportunities
in Pakistan.
Prior to the business meeting, the Prime Minister held a
bilateral meeting with Madame Gao Yan, Chairperson of
the CCPIT. He commended the leading role of Chinese
enterprises and the CCPIT in China's emergence as the
world's foremost trading nation and second largest
economy of the world. More than 200 delegations from
China and Pakistan government and business attended the
forum.
